Congratulations to Global Impact Collective founding advisor, Surya Vanka, who was recently named chair-elect of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) Board of Directors for 2024-2025.

Founded in 1965, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) is one of the oldest and largest nonprofit membership associations for industrial design professionals, with more than 2,500 active members. With origins traced back to the 1920s, IDSA’s first president was Henry Dreyfuss, an American industrial design pioneer known for designing some of the most iconic devices found in American homes and offices throughout the twentieth century. Active members have included others like Charles Eames, who was named “Most Influential Designer of the 20th Century.” IDSA has dozens of Professional Chapters, Student Chapters, and Special Interest Sections that foster professional development through the delivery of localized programming and networking opportunities. IDSA continues to advocate for the industrial design profession and is an active member of the World Design Organization.
IDSA is dedicated to providing resources to help industrial designers address global challenges and make meaningful contributions across business, culture, and society. Through design, IDSA members improve the livelihoods of millions of people around the globe every day.
Like IDSA, the Global Impact Collective believes in the creative power of design thinking to solve environmental and social issues facing people and the planet. Our founders worked for decades at some of the world’s largest technology and social impact organizations and are combining their collective experience with the wisdom of local communities to develop world-changing solutions.
